LIPS Sisters

Ladies Into Purchasing Stock was the brainchild of two remarkable women, Sharon Simmons and Sharon Campbell.  The "two Sharons" believed that a women's buying group was just what HLSR needed and they were willing to do the research and ground work to make it happen.  In 1992, they enlisted the help of a group of women desiring to become more involved in the life of the HLS&R™.

Since 1992 LIPS, has been changing lives, making a difference and supporting Texas youth and education.

LIPS is made up of around 100 ladies who are hardworking, active members of approximately 30 different HLS&R™ committees as well as moms, professionals and community volunteers.

Annual Dues

Dues for new members (i.e., rookies) are $175. Returning member dues are $150 paid annually, beginning April 1st with a deadline of February 15. Members paying in full by December 31 are eligible to potentially participate in one of the HLS&R™ Champion Buyers dinners and/or parties.

Buckle Bunnies

As a supporter of HLS&R™, LIPS receives items of recognition from various committees.  The distribution of these items is based on member participation whether it is time and/or money, and then ranked by the point system developed by the Buckle Bunnies.

Meetings and Other Happenings

LIPS Full Membership Meetings

Structured meetings take place September through April, typically on a Monday evening at a convenient location.  An email notification will be sent several weeks in advance.  Other news, updates, and communication are usually sent through email.  Please RSVP.

Summer Party

Since we do not have membership meetings between May and September this gathering is a time for the LIPS Sisters to get together, share stories and enjoy time together in a relaxing and fun environment.

Christmas Party/Ornament Exchange

After a brief membership meeting, the December meeting is our Christmas party which is another fun time for the LIPS sisters to get together and enjoy each other. We each bring a unique or interesting wrapped ornament for the exchange.  Anything decorated with LIPS is always a hit – but, Rodeo, Texas, or Wine-themed items are also fun.  During the switch, a “left/right story” about our year of LIPS is read and we pass the gifts to the left or right whenever left or right is mentioned.

Junior Market Auction Gift Bag Stuffing

Usually held in February before the Rodeo gets underway; a team gets together and builds auction “goodie” bags.  These bags are given to the exhibitors whose projects we purchase.    The bags contain various items i.e., LIPS objects, notepads, pens, corporate freebies, barnyard animal items, glow lights, candy, stickers, glasses, candles, koozies, keychains, etc. obtained by our LIPS sisters.  Of course, all items must be appropriate for young people.

Champion Buyers Dinners

LIPS members receive various perks, but only if your dues are paid by December 31 and you are in good standing.
